Have you upgraded to iPlayer Desktop? There have been a lot of posting on the iPlayer forums that the downloading is a lot slower with the Desktop version.

I'm on iPlayer Desktop and it's not its fault - I've switched back to RIN and the two programs I'm downloading are coming down so fast that it's making these forums stutter like crazy.
I'm also getting nearly as fast on the normal Plusnet connection.
There's definitely something wrong with either 21CN or THN-AG2
Don't forget I'm on PAYG (equivalent of PRO) so all traffic should be gold or better.

been like it for 3 days now jelv.

I was reading that thread when you posted - I'm sure it's the same problem.
I'm not a Wireshark addict so I haven't checked what the traffic is classed at, but unless someone has totally screwed up the configuration it shouldn't make any difference - I'm on PAYG so all my traffic should be gold or better.

how come you can change back to the centrals on connect

There's no exchange wiring change for IPStream Connect - it's all down to routing controlled by the radius servers. All I do is change the login.
username@plusdsl.net - normal centrals
username@plusdsl2.net - RIN
username@plus11.net - IPStream Connect

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

I'm downloading  currenly with iPlayer at 2.5mbps with a 3mbps profile, ADSL2+ is not lighting speeds for me. So not sure that it's a 21CN problem. Did you read http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbiplayer/F8035762?thread=6505792

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

If when I switch to the RIN connection I'm getting a 1hour program (653MB) downloaded in around 15 minutes it's got to be something wrong with the Plusnet side!

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

A file that size with my connection speed I'm looking at 35 minutes so perhaps that the reason that I don't see the problem.

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

BBC Speedtest results I've just obtained.
Wish I'd done this before midnight when the speed was really slow non-existent.
Not sure about the RIN result as I sync at 8192!

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

For reference here is a BBC iPlayer speedtest on IPStream Connect run a few minutes ago.
Speeds may be slightly down as I have VPN connected and a RDP session open.

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

mine on adsl2+ 21cn just now.
streaming 1 is classed as 0x60 gold plated using an ip of 88.221.26.173
i did about 6 tests and 2 of them where all 0x80's . so the same ip is not used every time. but it was only streaming 1 that was classed as 0x60 every time.
Any way dave's updated my ticket on this

I'm currently looking into this and see whether we can fish out the remaining iPlayer traffic from the Akamai and Limelight network ranges, we may have another sig we can test soon so hopefully this will detect the rest.

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

So they will put in place a new signature that will make sure that all iPlayer streaming is 0x80.
Err... Exactly how will that help when the speed of my 0x80 (PAYG Gold) traffic was dire last night?
I think it's a far more fundamental problem than whether it is Gold or Gold Plated.

all i know is wbc and seems connect as well now are not happy bunnys at all between midnight-1am
i will jump out of this thread now and leave it to you connect guys as there's maybe somthing diffrent going on with connect product

Not quite as simple as that.
I know the normal Plusnet connection does not perform as well as RIN. However see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,75842.0.html
I was hoping that IPStream Connect would step in to the void left by RIN's ending.

Re: ISP Connect Trial - 21CN trial

Jelv,
We've had some problems recently where we've seeing packet loss on THN-AG2 before we even hit capacity, which Dave has been investigating with BT.
