IP Profile reduced a scary amount

My internet has been a bit unstable the past couple of days and now that it seems to have calmed a bit, i found that my speed got incredibly reduced. I looked into the problem and saw that from doing the BT speedtest that my IP profile went down to 1250Kbps yet my downstream sync is 8032Kbps. Will this eventually iron itself out or will this continue to be a problem?

For that magnitude increment the system should automatically reset your IP Profile to 7000kbps within 24 hours.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

How often do you reboot/disconnect your router? Your router stats are showing a connection of 46secs! Frequent disconnections can be seen by the exchange as instability and the IP Profile will be lowered.
For the IP Profile to recover and stay high it is best if you leave the router on 24x7, second best is to turn it on when it's first needed each day and turn it of last thing when you've totally finished with the internet (only ONE reconnect per day).

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

This is simply DLM (dynamic line management) at work. The reduction in speed is directly due to the disconnections and I'm afraid it won't get better unless we deal with the underlying issue of your connection dropping out first.
My advice would be to look at what you can rule out at your side first (i.e router, filters and cables) then check back with me as I can see a log of any disconnections. If you're unable to resolve this at your side then I'll advise you raise a fault here: https://portal.plus.net/apps/kbdfaults

This is likely just me since i was testing different filters, changing to the test socket etc and rebooting manually to see if any difference could be made. I most likely logged on and checked my router stats immediately and didn't refresh and took the screen shot then.
My random, unintentional disconnects have stopped for now, it was mostly happening in the evening a couple of nights ago but has since stopped. Reasons why it was doing that is unknown to me. However the speed is still low at the moment.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

Keep an eye on the up time to make sure that you are not getting unexpected disconnects.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

Internet has been stable all day with no disconnects. I'll see how the speed is tomorrow i guess.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

It looks like you had a disconnection around 4PM resulting in a lower sync speed.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

Here's a log of your connections over the past few days from our systems:

I'd still recommend ruling out what you can at your side then raising a fault with us (if you'd been unable to find a cause within your premises).

I see you turn your router off at night.

My router has only had a connection of 254 hours as I powered everything down when we went on holiday in August. I take it so far as to have the router on my UPS so my line didn't drop even though we had a two power cuts each for several minutes yesterday.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

Well i'm not feeling any unintentional disconnections honestly, but yes i do turn it off.
I'll leave the router on and see if that'll help.

Re: IP Profile reduced a scary amount

believe it or not turning the router on and off like this can be counter-productive. Equipment at the exchange can misconstrue this as a fault and lower your speed as a result so I'd advise leaving it powered up.
