Re: How to remove a static IP address

I don't think that you have
If you disconnect and then reconnect via the router interface (not a line resync) does it change

Re: How to remove a static IP address

You don't have a static IP address with ourselves at the moment.
Each time you disconnect and reconnect you'll get a different one.

Re: How to remove a static IP address

Have you tried gateway hopping as per Oldjim's earlier post to see if it changes? You may have to do it more than once to be absolutely sure.

Re: How to remove a static IP address

They may be an very few customers that truly have static IP's, these are the ones that request a block of addresses. The rest will have dynamic IP's even the ones that believe they have static.
If you look at the ripe query you will see
status:         ASSIGNED PA
this to the world would mean that the address has been allocated as dynamic. I have a static IP from Plusnet but to the outside world this still look as Dynamic as it's ASSIGNED PA. A true static IP you will see
status:         ASSIGNED PI

Re: How to remove a static IP address

Every time you've established a new connection, you've had a different IP. Your current connection has been ongoing for most of the day though. How exactly are you disconnecting?

Re: How to remove a static IP address

Website whatsmyipaddress is giving out correct information. This is the details for your current IP address which Plusnet staff have confirmed is a dynamic one. A dynamic address doesn't change minute-by-minute, it changes only when your internet connection to Plusnet is disconnected, then re-established. A connection can last for several days, even weeks.
Do you switch the router off at night then on again in the morning? That will cause your IP address to change - though for best performance it is best to leave the router permanently on.

Re: How to remove a static IP address

Thank you for you reply, So I have got a static ip then? And no I do not turn my router of at night, and it doesn't matter what I do this static ip has been like this since I can remember, (even with other ISP providers) we have stolen emails (compromised) we have had loads and loads of problems, in all the time we moved into this house eight or nine years ago, the problems we've had is endless, just don't know why or what it is? P.s I think it's finally fixed it's now a dynamic IP address.... For a day I expect Smiley but thanks all for your help. Much appreciated.
