How to make 585 v7 work for customer of other ISP

I want to lend my spare router to someone who is having problems. What must I do to make it work on a non-Plusnet connection?

For some ISP's it should only be a matter of changing the Username and password to their own details
Without knowing the ISP in question its hard to say with 100% certainty

Would I be right to assume the BT is on ADSL
If so it should only be a matter of changing the Username & password to theirs and it should be good to go
