How to check if UPD / TCP ports are unrestricted?

I am trying to set up my VPN with my new Technicolor TG582n router and have been asked the following
Check that the following ports are allowed and unrestricted: UDP 1194, 8080, 9201 and TCP 110, 443, 500.

How do I do this? Is it a setting within the router access or something to do with Telnet?
Any help would be very welcome!

This should work for you as standard, the software that you're using should automatically configure this for you.

The fact that you're being asked about TCP ports 443 & 500 tends to indicate that it's an IPSec VPN. Depending on the f/w version you may need to apply the 'fix' detailed here http://npr.me.uk/vpnissue.html
