Re: House move query

From either side, gives the similar result
For Postcode CO1 2TE
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial check on your postcode indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 6Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 5Mbps and 8Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 11Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 6.5Mbps and 15Mbps.
For Postcode CO4 3BG
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial check on your postcode indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 7Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 6Mbps and 8Mbps.
Our check also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 14Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 8Mbps and 18.5Mbps.
The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained.
Thank you for your interest.
Please note that postcode and address check results are indicative only. Most accurate results can be obtained from a telephone number check.

Re: House move query

I've tended to trust the last one in Jelv's list above as 'from the horse's mouth' so to speak.
My exchange was on the list as due to have 21CN in March but it's now disappeared from that list probably due to the recent bad weather, spending cuts and the current political situation in Egypt.

Re: House move query

Hi Joanne
The attempt to manually upgrade my service to 21CN is scheduled to complete today.
I have checked the my router page & it now says: G.992.5 annex A
Also my upload speed according to speedtest.net has increased from max 0.40 to 0.90.
Download speed remains the same (6.5mb)
Just wondered whether you could confirm whether the manual upgrade has worked? Im guessing / hoping it has & that my download speeds will increase over the days course
But just wanted to check incase I have my hopes up for no reason...
Thanks
Sam

Re: House move query

HI sammieblue,
the G992.5 does indeed mean ADSL2+ and the upload also suggests that. Give it a couple of days to settle and let me know how you get on.

Re: House move query

Thats great thanks jojo!
I have been unable to complete a bt speed test (for purposes of finding out ip profile) since moving house a few weeks ago.
I have the latest Java installed so it seems to be the same problem as a few others are experiencing.
Would it be possible to update Question #39751288 & give me my ServiceID so that I can try with that?
Many thanks

Re: House move query

Thanks Jojo
Just completed a BT speedtest and it informs me that my IP profile is:
IP Profile for your line is - 17000 Kbps
But my Download speed achieved during the test was - 2267 Kbps
Could Plusnet update things on their end?
Many thanks
Sam

What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate for your current line speed?

Re: House move query

While it is like that you won't get a speed higher that 7Mb, but it doesn't explain why you saw a speed as low as you did!

Re: House move query

Just checked again:
Current line speed:
17 Mb
Yay!
Speeds are at around 8.5mb at the moment but seem to be increasing each time I complete a speedtest...
Thanks to all those that have helped!

Re: House move query

Hi Joanne
I've just seen Question #40157535 that you raised on my account:

"Raised manually. Failed TAM PPP Layer standard check. ref code:1-7086957742"

Has something gone wrong? Would it explain why I'm limited to 10mb on speedtests?
Thanks
Sam

Re: House move query

Its strange, BT speedtest gives these results:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 7538 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 4000-21000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :19331 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1208 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 16000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 7.47:29.71:62.83 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 907 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 1208 Kbps
However, I am able to download at 10mb
Also my IP Profile was originally 17mb but dropped to 16mb earlier today

Re: House move query

Hi sammieblue,
I was performing some diagnostics to your line when it seemed to be failing on certain tests. I raised it to make sure we catch any problems early on. Their checks will probably  sort out any inconsistencies.
