Re: House move help (from old forum) for comms team

Hiya,
It's been a week since the cheque was raised.  I'm trying to see if there's any way we can get the process expedited as the cheque refund process can take ages owing to the number of sign off point it requires.
I know it's far from ideal.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!?! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Guess who has to move house next week?
And it gets better, it's literally 25 meters away.
Here's hoping all the work they did means I won't come accross the same problem!!
Oh the stuff life throws at you.

Seems to be going well so far....
Could it really be a case of 7 days instead of 7 months?
Place your bets!

Re: House move help (from old forum) for comms team

Trust me I was dismayed when I realised I had to move house, to cut a long story short we only moved into it on the promise of long term letting over several years with a view to buying it but then landy changed his mind after 7 months and turfed us out!
It was an absoloute nightmare!
Moral:
Only do things with a proper written contract even if the wife says it will be fine because she's known the guy for years.
It was possibly the most stressful time of my life, he pinched 2 weeks rent from us too but with no proof of even paying it what can you do?
The fact that we had finally gotten online after 7 months was just the icing on the cake!

I think I will point my cozan Barry to this, I think it would make a good Film.
But Geeeeeees I can hardly believe that this kind of thing can still happen, with landlords.  Shocked

Re: House move help (from old forum) for comms team

The problem was his family were friends with my wifes family, especially the mothers so we had pressure coming from every direction about what a great idea it was to move there but it was a complete disaster.
I never wanted to in the first place because I ddin't know the guy from adam but the wife insisted he was trustworthy because she had known him since childhood.
The rent he kept was because his new wife was allergic to cat hairs and he needed new carpets and he claimed he told us "no cats on the carpets" when we moved in which is a complete lie, why would cat owners move into a house on those terms?
He still hasn't changed them yet either!

I no this is of no comfort to you, but it does show why people renting should always go through proper agents rather than doing private deals (even if most managing agents are a bunch of useless wotsits (I should know - I've worked for a few)).
