But at night they are nuts nothing constant just bouncing between 130 to 2000ms

Re: High pings

I would think that makes perfect sense, the lines are very busy in the evening, and we are still on \plan B restrictions

Re: High pings

shouldnt effect gaming thoe being titanium prioity, sounds as thoe some or all of the games traffic is not being picked up right. check with wireshark

Re: High pings

pings for me and a friend on pn are dire tonight as usual - both of us were in a server at about 6 and they were fine; as soon as it hit about 7 pings went up to 140 and sat there, no it's not the server (tried others).
Tracerts to any UK  game server after 7 are horrid, but to standard places like BBC there's not much wrong.
I put a ticket in because cod4 port 28960 isn't being picked up as titanium - they've said it's going to take up to 10 days to change. I Don't really think there could be a 100+ms ping difference between gold and titanium traffic prioritization can there?
(Please correct me if I'm wrong)

Re: High pings

Maybe I'm in a particularily grumpy old man mood today.  But this is really piss poor.
I may not be the most technically savvy person out there, especially when it comes to the internet but really... come on !
For weeks now pings have been diabolical.  Despite customers being on BBYW Pro.  How can games like COD4 "suddenly" lose their traffic prioritisation?  I could understand it if your customers were playing "that unknown game from some scandinavian company with an online community of 2".  But COD 4?  TF2,  Battlefield?
Plan B seems to be all I'm hearing at the moment.  What the heck has plan B got to do with gaming priority?  By all means plan "b'ise" all those that are paying for standard service, but not those of us that are paying a premium.  Do we get a refund?  I think half price rental from the date problems started to date of fix sounds reasonably.  Then if it continues beyond a reasonable point (and we're nearly there) a full refund and a little something else.
I'm moving address in a couple of weeks.  Sorely tempted not to tansfer my BB but migrate.  I have a nasty feeling that too much emphasis is being placed on the new pipe.  Great, that will fix the issues for those that like to watch you tube videos, but i bet the gaming community will still be in a pickle.  We'll be asked to raise tickes for each game we suspect is not prioritised, not to mention having to run Wireshark to prove it.
Rant over.  Until tomorrow.

Re: High pings

fully understand where your coming from. i've only just got my latency back for my night owl gaming on adsl2+ http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,80166.0.html
the new 21cn pipe solved the issue but the under lying problem is still there so if its not fixed by the time the new pipe gets full am back to sqaure one

Re: High pings

I'm prepared to wait until they think cod4 is being prioritized properly and the new pipe is installed then I'll give it a fair chance - no question I appreciate all the work pn seem to be doing to try and solve the problem, but I've got my MAC code sitting in my inbox and it's screeaaming at me right now.

Re: High pings

Wait so what, we have to request for each and every individual game server to be prioritised for different ports? This is the first ive heard, Id of assumed that research was carried out and properly configured before pn even released this package. Ive seen alot of different ports in cod4 and bf2 Shocked
Well in that case, whatever port your adding for the guy above, add that to my priority list aswel.. maybe I will play on that server one day. I guess you do this for everyone on the pro package, if a new game/port is added.. add it for everyone? well you should for everyones sake

Re: High pings

Hi,
I suspect some clarity is needed Smiley
A lot of the games will use the same ports - it's really a case of when a new game is released and uses different network settings for its online gaming that we have to add extra rules.  Once the game is added for one person, it's added for our entire customer base.

Re:High pings

Hi leeanthony,
Unfortunately we are having issues with the network at present, as detailed at http://status.plus.net - there's been some issues with network balance. As for when it's fixed, we've had some new capacity go live today that we've been waiting for which should resolve the majority of the issues. Keep an eye on the service status page for updates but you should notice things improve as of this evening.
