Why do i get high ping on online games at 12am for about 20minutes to an hour? I was on Zero gears free trial to night when at 12am ping goes crazy again. Ping is going crazy with bf2142 as well, so whats doing this?

12am is when all speed restrictions come off and when people schedual over night downloading to save on their monthly allowance,. So yeah 12am-12.30am will chug along a bit until it settles.

There is an open issue regarding 21CN latency (high pings) that is currently being worked on. See http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&support_action=messages&ispservice_id=networkcapacit.

I dont want to mess around with mtu but my routers mtu is set at 1450 should i change the windows mtu to 1450 as well as i know it default is 1500?

You could give it a go, although if your problems only occur around midnight then I'd be surprised if it improves the situation. You're much more likely to be affected by the current service issues that robr referenced.
