Things aren't looking too bad from our point of view: <img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image13627387656928.png"/>
I understand what your saying about the reduction in speeds, unfortunately thought setting the SNR too low and increasing speeds can cause the line to become intermittent and I can see the reverse of that seems to have stabilised the connection.

Adam thanks for that. Looking at the graph I must agree that you are absolutery right.
The line has been rock steady since Tuesday evening when my SNR was reset.
The one drop yesterday at about 15.20 was an electrical interruption due to electrical work in my house - so not a single drop: I therefore eat my words and take back what I said about leaves on the line!
In fact my profile today has gone back to 2 - 7.5 although my speed has dropped further to 3.54 downstream. There is also a delay in opening web pages. After entering my login details on the Plusnet site, it took 8 seconds for the next page to open and similarly the BTW speedtest site took ages to open. Other pages are like that eg yahoo mail.
I noticed that after my router came back on yesterday my gateway changed from pcl-ag05 to pcl-ag01; Could this be the cause? I could reboot until I am back on pcl-05 but am worried that rebooting will damage my profile. Any ideas about whether it has anything to do with the gateway? The only other thing I can think of is the weather, as it started raining yesterday; and my previous problems had been in bad weather but the engineer did sort out the line and changed something on the pole outside. I think the weather is behaving very badly and is being totally inconsiderate, throwing in a confounding variable. Should I try changing gateways?
Thank you for the graph
11.12 - Speeds are up again and pages are loading better.

Hi John.
Would you mind divulging which TP-Link router you have been having probs with? Reason for asking is that, in the light of good reports elsewhere, I've been thinking of ordering one to replace the one pn favours (let's not go there!).
Thanks.

Hi Arthur
I have the TP Link TD-W8968 which was £36.98 from Novatech.
The router is brilliant. I am on ADSL2+ and if I decide to go for FTTC, the router has an EWAN function that will enable it to connect to cable and fibre.
I got this router as Plusnet suggested my old router might have been at fault. Asd it turned out, my old router was OK as is this - the problem lay with a connection on the pole outside my house.
Further problems were due to my SNR being too low which Plusnet has corrected. The router is fine.
It is a doddle to set up and I highly recommend it. Have a look at the specs.
Cheers

Hi Chris
Things seem OK, I have got consistant downloads speeds of 4.62 Mb, which is almost double the 2.4 -2.8 that I got for years. I'm very pleased for that.
My router showed a drop on Saturday 9th at 07.27 - for no apparent reason. I noticed following the drop that my gateway had changed from pcl-ag01 to ptn-ag02. My pings have varied, and on one occasion pages took a few seconds to load but that was previous to the drop, when I was on pcl-ag01. Downstream SNR seems to have settled at 6 dB, although it varies a bit, but not by much - up to 7.2 dB (On the 28th of February I had an SNR margin of -0.9. I couldn't believe a minus figure so I took a screen shot of it; how was that possible? pic attached)
Thanks for your help :), and can you do me a new graph for the last 5 days please? It will be nice to see it without all the disconnections
Best wishes
John

Can't see why you had the disconnection on Saturday morning...
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image13630087766223.png"/>
Certainly has been stable since, seems the router may have misreported the upstream dB?

Many thanks Chris
The SNR was increased on Tuesday 5th. The disconnection on Thursday 7th was because of electrical work, so really the only disconnection in the last 6 days was on Saturday morning! I think thats good going compared to what it was !
I'm very pleased with it at the moment!
