Re: Have I made a mistake

9.5Mb and did the diagnostics and it said..... This test was not conclusive and further testing is required. This might be useful for your Broadband Service Provider to investigate the fault

Re: Have I made a mistake

ok up to 20Mb now so seems to be getting back on track ,only another 50Mb to go lol . Thanks for your help . One more thing tho , is it normal for the router tostruggle to connect to the internet as this is not the first time to struggle.

Re: Have I made a mistake

How were you restarting the connection? You can disconnect/connect via the router's web interface at http://192.168.1.254 - this should be quick. Slightly slower will be a full restart of the Plusnet router, as it needs to boot back up (and this will happen in stages).
The BT Openreach modem should usually be left alone unless told to reset or power cycle it.

Re: Have I made a mistake

Yeah you don't want to be doing that too many times, the exchange equipment may see it as an unstable connection and lower the speed to compensate. You'd be better doing as CX suggests, logging in to the router and disconnecting/reconnecting from in there.

Re: Have I made a mistake

Try disconnecting until you get on one that doesn't start PCL (the ping graphs have just spiked again).

Re: Have I made a mistake

The times that you are reporting the problems are tying very closely to the issues we're seeing elsewhere (and the spikes on the ping graphs) so I'm hopeful that when we resolve those problems (and we're getting there) you'll stop seeing these issues.

Re: Have I made a mistake

Yeah, if you are connected to PCL-AG01 ot PCL-AG02.  If you are, disconnect and reconnect in your router and it should be fine.
