Green cabinets appearing - where do I look for an activation date?

Every so often I look for a date when I might get FTTC in my area and have always got a "There are no plans...." type of answer so far.
Yet yesterday a nice green cabinet appeared alongside our cabinet, it has no labels other than a 230V one and there is another one going in down in the village next to another old cabinet.
Have I been looking in the wrong place for FTTC plans - can somebody point me at a good source?
If not, then do Plusnet have any information on when I might be able to get FTTC?

The usual source is http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/

http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/ makes no mention of fibre at all for my phone number - but I do know which is my cabinet and there is a new one alongside that almost has to be an FTTC cabinet.

Re: Green cabinets appearing - where do I look for an activation date?

Thankyou but
http://www.superfast-open...ach.co.uk/where-and-when/ says "not currently in rollout plans".
My exchange serves a local very small town and the surrounding villages. I live in one of the villages. Might Openreach send fibre out to a village because it is troublesome/high takeup or some other reason but not want to supply it to the town yet and therefore be unwilling to announce it as available within the whole exchange area?

Re: Green cabinets appearing - where do I look for an activation date?

Hi
Depending on where you are what you are seeing may be part of the BDUK initiative https://www.gov.uk/broadband-delivery-uk FWIW we are in Surrey and the FTTC cabs are going in associated with our exchange but the BT Infinity rollout plans we are not even on the list!
So perhaps do a Google search or look on your countys own website for any mention of BDUK coming to your county???
As for when to ask for a FTTC connection, according to my local government person I emailed a short while back there two key stages for when "you" can get it is the BTOR stickers appearing on the FTTC cabs and when we get firstly a flyer mentioning the BDUK rollout and then (apparently) a postcard telling us "we" can now get superfast broadband...........................all we have so far is the new cabs going in and the BTOR engineers running cable to link to the PCP cabs plus mention of BTOR accessing the underground network (this latter I think might be to do with pulling the fibre cables into place???)  But no stickers or 'notice' yet.
Oh, the FTTC for the cab I am connected to is being placed over the next few days a very welcome sight when it appears Cheesy
HTH in your looking?
PS I also found this website of interest to see who & what is planned for the area/country http://roadworks.org/

@EnglishMohican
Did you look at Download the rollout plan lists? It says "If you can't find your exchange on the map, you can download the latest fibre rollout plans below."
My exchange was supposed to go live September 2013 but that has been pushed back to December. I like you live in a village, we old have one green cab.

Re: Green cabinets appearing - where do I look for an activation date?

Thank you all.
It looks like it is part of the Northamptonshire County SuperFast Broadband Initiative. I had no idea that BT would not include such work on their rollout plans - but it appears not.
Anyway, I am now very happy, I thought I was condemned to the backwoods for the forseeble future but it appears not. Grin
