First ten days

Hi,

Much as I know from reading the instructions (Yes I know a bloke who reads the instructions has to be a joke right) the first 10 days or so I should expect slow speeds until the system settles down. But bloodyhellfireandbrimstone! Since I was connected yesterday the speed is so bad I can't even run the speed test!

When I was with BT (17 days ago) on this very same line, I was at least getting a speed I could work with. My peak with BT a year ago was 6mbs which it still was when I left them, all be it with a latency that suggested I was trying to send light to earth from the event horizon of a black hole in beatlejuice!

All I want to know is this normal for the first 10 days or am I once again being shafted by BT's dire lines and exchanges?

Re: First ten days

If you were getting 6Mb from BT you should be getting the same with PN, so sounds like something is wrong.

Have you had a look at the connection speeds on the router?

Re: First ten days

Testing your line isn't showing any obvious problems, the connection rate looks really good with no errors.

Upstream DSL Link Information Downstream DSL Link Information
Loop Loss: 10 17.5
SNR Margin: 25.7 10
Errored Seconds: 0 0
HEC Errors: 0 0
Cell Count: 1790145 20200863
Speed: 448 8128

The profile on our side is set to match that too. Can you run through a BT Speedtest for me, ensuring you do the 'further diagnostics' test after the first one completes please. Before you do this stop anything using the connection, upload or download.

Re: First ten days

Running it now, but you can see what the dslreports.com test reports. And it's plugged directly into the main socket (Only one I have) nothing else is using the system either hard wired or wireless. Plus I have tried this on 3 computers so far and it's still dire Sad

BT test is still trying to connect

Re: First ten days

And the line was only tested yesterday by BT before they finally moved me over to Plusnet

Re: First ten days

Yep, however the BT one gives us some more data and also logs the speeds on the wholesale system if we need to report a fault.

Re: First ten days

How are you doing these tests, wired or wifi? And which router do you have?

Re: First ten days

Which one, PN have three routers, details can be seen here?

Have you tried a different port on the router?

Do you still have your BT router? Might be worth trying that, there are details on here about how to set it up, I will see if I can find a link.
