Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

Hello,
I've been trying to upgrade the firmware on my TG582n, to version R10.2.2.9. The upgrade utility stated that the update had been succesful, but had been unable to restore the configuration. However, I now can't log in to the router - I've tried every combination of admin + admin, admin + serial number, admin + (blank), admin + (my password), Administrator + (blank), and all other combinations of Administrator + passwords that I can think of but to no avail. I've cycled the power off and on, but that didn't help. I haven't tried a 'factory reset' in case I lose Internet connectivity.
Any suggestions?

I tried restoring a configuration from a previous version and it didn't like it. Needed a factory reset I'm afraid.

Re: Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

Plusnet applied the update for me via TR069 - first I knew was it rebooted (they told me they were going to do it and did so while I was trying to find out when!).

Re: Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

OK, got it. The password is the FULL serial number - I thought you had to knock off the initial two letters.

I'd suggest the link given here is safer!

Re: Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

10.2.2.9 is the latest I'm aware of - there has been some confusion where a version number ending with B was merged with 10.2.2 to lead people to think there was a 10.2.2.B, but I've never actually seen an positive indication that this exists.

Re: Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

For ADSL 8.4.4.J is the version on currently supplied TG582n routers. So not particularly old.

Re: Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

I've used all three versions (8.4.4.J, 10.2.0.B, 10.2.2.9) and the original 8.4.4.J is the most stable. It's the only one not in beta!

Re: Firmware Upgrade - Locked Out

I've not tried 10.2.0.9, but on 8.4.4.J on a 20CN exchange I was getting multiple unexplained sync drops per day. They stopped when PN upgraded me to 10.2.2.9. They also sent me a second router with 8.4.4.J (in case it was a hardware fault) - since my exchange was upgraded I've tried both and the 10.2.2.9 seems to give a better connection; the exchange attempted 3db (which was wrecked by the local electricity sub-station blowing up) on the new firmware where it hadn't tried that after a fortnight on the old.
