Fibre-to-the-cabinet connection and router requirement

I notice that my local Exchange has the tentative schedule of March 2011 for FTTC  Smiley
Is an adsl2 router still OK for the hoped-for increase in speed provided by FTTC?
Regards.....

Re: Fibre-to-the-cabinet connection and router requirement

I suggest taking a look at the posts at the top of the Fibre Trials forum. There is an explanation there of hardware requirements and the type of router needed. It's not as simple as one might think.

Many thanks Spraxyt..
I see what you mean, 'though the FTTC connection seems reasonably straightforward.  I see a new faceplate is supplied and a VDSL modem, so as I've got a modem/router that may require replacing with a router.

We provide a modified TG585v7 router for the FTTC trialists and BT provide a VDSL modem. Hardware requirements post-trial are yet to be finalised AFAIK.
