Re: Fibre Speed Tests

Your line is looking fine at the moment.
There may have been a brief drop over night due to planned maintenance (PW236449).

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

From what I can see, it looks as though a problem has been identified and our suppliers have tried to rectify the issue remotely.
Unfortunately it looks like the remote work hasn't resolved the issue, which is why an engineers visit is required. The engineer will be in a better position to be able locate any physical issues whilst carrying out any necessary remote work too whilst on site.

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

Be interested to see what becomes of it! Might explain why the ADSL line before hand kept dropping out although with a  2mb line,  it was barely usable for anything entertaining. A lot more noticeable I guess when fibre drops speed.
Apologies Jim (Oldjim) for including names of support staff I didn't realise.

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

my line has been more stable the past 24 hours.... the speed test are showing between 38mb - 41mb. OK its not lighting and a bit slower from the original estimate speeds of 50-60mb but have noticed now when I check other isp's estimated speeds they have dropped from the original estimated speeds. and now showing between 35-50mb!
So was I the first in my area to opt for fibre?

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

I couldn't say whether or not you're one of the first for FTTC in your area but it is quite common for speed estimates to come down a little as the estimates are based on simple calculations when the FTTC lines are being installed.

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

Latest Update to line speeds on Fibre
Friday: OpenReach Engineer replaced the BT ECI modem for the Slightly smaller BT Huawei one. She claimed the Huawei should have been the one installed originally but wasn't. Apparently, the line speed based on distance for copper wire to cabinet and fibre to exchange I should be getting a max of 47mb on the 80/20.
Which confused her based on the current profile at the time was set to 40.
She as cleared the line of any faults and reset the DLM so the next 10 days is now a waiting game.
The Througput speed still seems to be quite random and slow.
General use: the IP to server seems to be stable and consistent

However, still getting seriously slow speeds and on some occasions where I am streaming media it some time buffers. I assume its the DLM working its business.

Do Plusnet do a 40/10 unlimited profile package?

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

Thanks for the update.
Yes we can provide Unlimited on 40/10 or 80/20 depending on the individual line estimate. I can move you onto 40/10 if you'd like?

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

We're in contact with our suppliers of an issue that you can last night where there was a large spike in latency.
Hopefully it's a one-off but ideally we'd like to know what caused it!

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

So after engineers have visited and tested the line, DLM reset and was notified the line is capable of up to 47mb max. Based on the actual speed check the open reach engineer carried out. (over 10 days ago)All line faults checked and cleared we still have relative slow fibre! Profile is set at 46mb which is fine but I always thought fibre was meant to be constant with small fluctuations at peak times!
The fastest I have seen is 40.45/8.86 27/3/14 18:21
so why do I still see speeds at the same rate of the fastest ADSL2 line? its not really breaking the speed barrier when it comes fast internet or is this one big  promotional hype?

Re: Fibre Speed Tests

The speeds you're getting are much improved on ADSL2, albeit, you're not getting the speeds we'd expect.
Are you running any other programs whilst running these speed tests?
