Fiber optic peaks

I have noted a very sudden fluctuation in download speed which appears to have started yesterday .Upload speed is unaffected. I ran several speed tests today and the results are below. A couple of the speed tests had to be abandoned as the download test actually stopped. I have reset the router a couple of times but not noted any difference. One speed test is as normal typically 25000kbps, the next even a  minute later slows considerably for example 7706kbps. I had FTTH installed in January and as the historic speed tests show  (after an initial speed fault )  until today the download and upload speeds have been reasonably consistant and stable.I am not aware of any service issues so any assistance would be appreciated.

Fiber optic peaks

Hi
During last days, im having a lot of peaks on my speed. Doing speedtest, it starts at 30 mbps, then falls to 4mbs, back to 25mbs, etc...

And... average speed is about 8mbps
Have any of you experienced this?

Thanks

Re: Sudden fluctuation in fibre download speed

HI rocky4x4,
It's not easy to put your finger on fluctuations like that. If you see it happen again the it might be worth setting up a PPPoE dialler and running a speed test directly from the modem. If you're not sure how to do that we have a couple of articles on our Community Library that will show you how.

Re: Fiber optic peaks

HI javixeneize,
What time does it happen, how often does it happen, is it a wired or wireless connection to the router?

Re: Fiber optic peaks

Hi
It happens all the time through a wireless connection
It was working fine, but, two days ago, somebody from Kelly's came to my house to replace the modem. Im experiencing this since that moment, but im not sure if this is related

In the same hand, the router displays a yellow light instead a green one, it means that sync has been done at 10mps instead of 100mps
Thanks

Re: Fiber optic peaks

As it's wireless, I would certainly try it wired next time it happen, as it just may be interference on the wireless channel. Smiley
