Faulty router replaced - what now?

I've just had a new router sent out as my old TG585 was regularly rebooting itself (every hour or so when I looked at the logs!)  Do I need to get plusnet to do anything now to ensure I'm getting best connections speed as my SNR is up at 24/12.5??  Any other advice appreciated

It might be best to ask Plusnet to set the line to retrain.

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Can you post the statistics shown by your router (sync speed, noise margin and attenuation) as well as the results from a BT speed test please. We'll then be able to offer some advice I hope.

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Your default noise margin is probably 12dB due to the disconnections - a reset would help or you could wait for the automatic systems to do their bit which will take several weeks

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Have you been able to run a BT speed test?

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

I stand by my first post.  If everything is now stable it will take around 800 hours to get back to a 6dB noise margin if Plusnet do not intervene and you wait for this to happen automatically.

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Thanks for the help - the SNR is SLOWLY coming down, got a stock reply to a support ticket....
"After 72 hours of constant connection your speeds should return to normal. I this isn't the case, please let us know and we can raise it as a speed fault and have our Faults Team look in to this for you."
My current stats are:
Uptime: 2 days, 7:04:41
DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A
Channel mode: Interleave
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,036 / 5,760
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 5,696
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/GB]: 0.00 / 1.63
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 21.0 / 43.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 24.0 / 10.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 10 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 241 / 185,959
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 73 / 876
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 50 / 17,060
and BT speedtest shows the following:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3849 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :5696 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4500 Kbps
Does it look like the profile should be raised?

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

At night SN Margin is normally lower than during the day and it should increase again in daylight hours. I think the changes you are seeing are most likely just that daily variation. If the DLM reduces your *target* noise margin that will be a 3dB change and the sync speed will increase by 500kbps or more so would be very noticeable.
The IP profile for your current sync speed is 5000kbps, but since the increase is only 500kbps from your present one it might take 3-5 days to get there.

Re: Faulty router replaced - what now?

Hi fhstudios,
As some others have suggested a reset of your SNR would probably bring up your speed a bit. I've just been having a look at your connection logs and I'd like to wait a bit longer as your line has only been up for just over 2 days. But if it does stay good, I'd be happy to do that, so let me know if you want me to go ahead with that.
