Ah, that's just the standard returns bag. As Matt says, I wouldn't worry about it now anyway

Re: FTTC with TG582n not fit for purpose

Chris Graham has said on the 589 thread :
"If anyone else is interested in getting a 589v3, please message me directly. I've not got any more at the moment but I'll start a waiting list."
Hope this helps?

Re: FTTC with TG582n not fit for purpose

haha so now I come to cancel I am essentially told by plusnet that I should be lucky I am not being charged for 2 routers.. what a joke.
I am being charged £40 for a router that never worked and that they even offered to give me £60 to replace and they point blank refused to take back.. I think I will just start a new thread about this disgrace

Re: FTTC with TG582n not fit for purpose

Add me to the list of unhappy customers. TG582n is a piece of turd and I would have gladly paid £30 or so for an alternative option when signing up to my 18 month fibre unlimited contract.
I've had to go and shell out £110 for an Asus N66U. Not a happy bunny.

Re: FTTC with TG582n not fit for purpose

Once you get the email telling you they are going to be charging you extra you have 10 days to cancel, as they have lied and been generally rude with me that is what I will be doing.

No one forced you to spend £110 on an Asus. I have a Netgear N300 that I am very happy with that cost £30.
Yours may have more bells & whistles but they both do the same job.
NB I also have complained about the 582 so don't complain that I am a PN toadie  Cheesy

True, but since my main problem with the 582 was wifi range the N66U was a good choice for a 4 bed house. Still, I would have preferred a router that wasn't quite as good but still adequate, even if I had to pay a little extra. The 582 is just an insult really.

Re: FTTC with TG582n not fit for purpose

Just read this rather scathing review of the router:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/plusnet-fibre-router_Peripheral_review_setup-performance-verdict_Page-...
Going to get fibre soon, probably won't bother with getting their router and saving myself £5.

You DON'T have the choice. They include it anyway. Unless they have changed in the past 9 months.

Nope, no choice. Automatically charged £5.99 for delivery for it whether you want it or not.
Silver lining - found an old Netgear WN2000 lying around this morning that I got free for beta testing a couple of years ago. Will plug it in and see if it's any good this evening and take back the N66U if that's the case *thumbs up*

Maybe if they'd stuck 3 huge antennae on top and branded it the 'White Knight'...
