FTTC but DL 3.5mb (ul is 17mb!)

Hi
FTTC installed today, DL speed tested via web consistent (with 2 WAN routers) @ 3.5mb and UL at 17mb.
So... is this a line profile thing given the installation was in the last 12 hours or do I have a problem?
[edit]
BT checker says:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 3.3 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps

Thanks!

Hi ivankb,
I'm really sorry to hear that you're suffering with poor Fibre speeds.
It looks as though your package hasn't been moved on our systems to FTTC. You will still be seeing poor speeds until this gets moved over. I've passed this over to Chris Purvey who is having a look into this for you. He'll pop a post on here shortly and get this sorted out for you.

Your account is now set to the fibre product so you should see an increase in speed.
We'll also place your phone line order today.
Let me know how you go.

Is that wired or wireless ? you need to try a wired test to confirm the real speed. Wireless speed may be reduced significantly by many factors.

Re: FTTC but DL 3.5mb (ul is 17mb!)

In that case I would suggest you've got a problem somewhere. Your BT IP profile is
Quote
IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps
and I presume Chris has just set your PlusNet profile to a similar value, but you can check that here https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed ( login required ).
What's that value showing ?.

Re: FTTC but DL 3.5mb (ul is 17mb!)

Hi
Estimated line speed:  57Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2013-04-17 10:39:12
Current line speed:  78 Mb
So it looks like I am at 78mb already, but BT speedtest shows;
"
Download speedachieved during the test was - 19.8 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps .
Additional Information:  IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps
"
So perhaps there is a "training" thing going on?

There will be line training, but that is about bringing your line down to a stable speed.
This smells like a fault to me!  Chris and/or Chris will be investigating for you.

Re: FTTC but DL 3.5mb (ul is 17mb!)

I suggest you try elimating the router by making a direct pppoe connections from a PC as described here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,113685.msg977933.html#msg977933 and then doing another speedtest

Re: FTTC but DL 3.5mb (ul is 17mb!)

I'm unable to perform any further line tests at the minute due to system issues, can you try a PPPoE as mentioned above and post your speed results when you've done that?
