FTTC Unlimited - Websites not loading and Up and Down Speeds

Afternoon all
i did a search about the websites not loading and saw it was fixed but not for me, ive just joined plusnet on the unlimited package but cant get to a good chunk of websites i.e imgur.com, speedtest.net, caughtoffside.com and pinterest.com are good examples others load but then dont pull images in. i have tested with Plusnet, Google and BTs DNS Servers all resolve the a record fine but wont load the website.
On the speed side of things,
18/1/14 - 8:33am - 36mb d - 7.7mb u
19/1/14 - 9:15pm - 8mb d - 6.5mb u
19/1/14 - 2:53pm - 35mb d - 7.3mb u
20/1/14 - 9:59pm - 9.5mb d - 7.3mb u
As im on the unlimited i was told that i woudn't be subjected to the time/speed limitations than non unlimited are - is this wrong?
I dont use the thomson router as i have a sonicwall tz that does ppoe and i have connected my mac book directly to the bt nte and done a ppoe from there and its still the same.
also i have added the pro addon and this hasnt helped at all.
just read also that theres an issue at the exchange(Kidsgrove) so that might be causing all this - if not im going to have to go back to Bethere
Thanks in advance

Yes....there is an issue with Kidsgrove/Alsager
Latest update is:
Quote from: dave
Latest updates:
Alsager/Kidsgrove - Capacity issue has been identified and they have ordered additional capacity into the exchanges. At the moment there's no ETA but we'll be escalating this up the chain and I'm talking to the BTR guys as well to see how many users they've got affected.
Furness area - no change since yesterday evening, ETA is still mid February.

That type of issue would affect broadband availability for new customers on that exchange but shouldn't pose any issues to existing ones.
@sharktech
I have to admit from what you've mentioned that this sounds like a browser issue. Have you tried another browser and can you describe what happens when your browser is trying to load the images.

@ Adam I think you've misunderstood what dave has said. It's a bandwidth capacity problem, not a capacity problem for new connections.

I also can't see how this would be a browser problem given that it is only bad in the evenings ?

Re: FTTC Unlimited - Websites not loading and Up and Down Speeds

Apologies in the late reply
I have tried
macbookpro : Chrome & Safari
ipad mini : same
ipad 4 : same
iphone 5 & 5s : same
hp laptop : ie 9,10,11, chrome, safari and firefox
all the same, i have literally just joined plusnet, tuesday 15th was the install day,
One thing to note i have a 3g femtocell (unplugged it and still the same) when i disconnect from wifi and use 3g everything works fine, obviously slow but all pages/images load (o2 box creates vpn from the femtocell to o2)
Thanks

Re: FTTC Unlimited - Websites not loading and Up and Down Speeds

@ sharktech
Your problems will be caused by a bandwidth capacity issue at your exchange, PN have escalated it to their suppliers and are waiting for an update. Hopefully it will soon be fixed for you.

Re: FTTC Unlimited - Websites not loading and Up and Down Speeds

When you have visited them once a lot of the files (images etc) will be in the browser cache and hence there isn't much to download so the pages will appear quickly. Try a CTRL F5 to refresh the page or a different browser (or clear the browser cache) when things are going slow and it might appear rather different.
You might also try http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/ which is a Plusnet site.
