FTTC Trial Speeds and VPN

Hi All,
Today I got upgraded to FTTC, and on the whole, I'm really happy, I've gone from 1.1MB up to between 15-20MB, see stats here:

But my upload speed is really lousy, is that normal?
On another note does anyone have any idea how to get PPTP VPN's working on the Plusnet issued Thomson router, I've read a post about re-flashing it, but I'm a bit weary because of the modified config it's running?

Ok, so I solved the VPN problem, I just replaced the router with a Linksys WRT54GL, and it works a treat!
