FTTC SPEED suddenly halved

I don't know what has happened but my fftc has suddenly halved in the last couple of days Cry
This is from the email I received on the 29/05 after 14 days service:
Quote
Current line speed: 78Mbps

And here is BT Checker with diagnostics today.
Download:
Quote
Download speed achieved during the test was - 40.17 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 16 Mbps-42.59 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 42.59 Mbps

Upload:
Quote
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 13.17Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

Unfortunately as the router is locked down I can't give you any more stats, but  is there any advice.

Re: FTTC SPEED suddenly halved

Just rebooted the routers, as I noticed by f8lure graph my fftc had reset around midnight last night.
Sitll no joy, still the same slower speed Sad

I'm assuming the ip profile could be reset, as i'm assuming this is the problem?

Re: FTTC SPEED suddenly halved

Hi there,
I've just been performing some diagnostic checks and whilst there isn't an obvious profile problem the test show a potential fault so I'd urge you to raise that with us ASAP:

Hi WonderWabbit,
You might not be aware but your connection seems to have been dropping a lot. As that can have negative effects on speeds I'd urge you to raise a fault too if that issue continues: http://faults.plus.net

Re: FTTC SPEED suddenly halved

According to his own thread the BT IP Profile for his line is 77.44Mbps. And according to that thread most of the session disconnects have been due to Plusnet Assist persistently telling him to reboot the Router, which incidentally was not even necessary for the problems he had. He's been acquainted with some sensible procedures and at last count all was working correctly apart from his download speed for which I'm given to understand there's already a ticket open as OR are due to attend tomorrow.

Just a note, the value of 78Mb is the initial value set by Plusnet on a FTTC install, the fact that it had not changed from this initial value suggests that the real line speed is 'unknown' rather than necessarily maximum speed.  The maximum BT IP profile for FTTC is 77.44Mb/s which would give a Plusnet line speed of 77.4Mb if correctly picked up.  There is a known issue of the Plusnet line speed not always updating correctly to the BT IP profile value: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,101517.0.html

Cheers Adam
Cheers Anotherone
The Faults engineer called today, and since his visit, i have achieved the best speeds I've ever had
  Ethernet                                                              Wireless varying between 11 & 31+

Now have to resist touching the Openreach hub for the next 10 days while the PNrouter settles down.
Have uninstalled my PlusnetAssist
Here's to a hopeful future of uninterrupted service Cool

Re: FTTC SPEED suddenly halved

Glad to hear things have improved. In terms of stability it's looking a lot better so far
