Erratic speeds

My plusnet bb just got activated last night,the speeds were less than 1mbps,this afternoon i tested my speed on thinkbroadband.com & at 3.30pm it was close to 6mbps but by 5.30pm it was down to 2mbps,& why is my ip address showing as sky,iif this is what it's going to continue, i'm going to cancel

Hi burger,
Line tests show me that you're connecting with a Sky username at the moment which explains the Sky IP address.
I suspect from looking at the notes on your account from a  call on Friday that you're still using a Sky router.
If that's the case you'll need to log in and change the username (which you may find doesn't work as some Sky routers are locked down to stop that)
failing that you'll need a compatible router from us or another hardware supplier.

It doesn't seem to be the Sky router that is at fault,it looks like either traffic shaping is throttling my browsing,or congestion at my exchange NEG (newcastle upon tyne gosforth).see the speed test results below,i got 6mbps at 9am this morning,but now i'm only getting 1mbps at 6pm, wish i'd never migrated from talk talk, at least their speeds were consistent & fast  from the start  ,so please get this sorted  Cry

If you're connecting with a Sky login then you'll be going through their network rather then ours.
I can see we've ordered you one of our routers.
