Re: Engineer - No show-..

As James mentioned it's not something we could guarantee I'm afraid. However I'm currently in communication with our suppliers looking at ways to avoid any such disputes should they occur.

We can request that Openreach ring ahead but we are unable to guarantee that it happens.

A simply question - Why not??? (If you want 100% customer satisfaction I really don't see why you cannot offer this service, I'm sure folks would not paying a small amount for you to do this, rather than waiting in for a no show'.)

Re: Engineer - No show-..

The only way this is going to stop happening is if customers are given the FULL compensation to which they are entitled. So if that means they have to take a second half day off work, then they are entitled to whatever it would cost them if they took a half day's unpaid leave.

In a righteous world that should be the case.  I definitely think there should be means to claim compensation.
I guess there wont be a no win no fee chaps out there for this as the compensation is likely to be less.  Wink
Another suggestion is if the engineer doesnt have free texts / minutes they can give a missed call.. Smiley

Have a read of http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/delivery-rights
It's easy to claim and little risk as you'd take it through the small claims court.

Re: Engineer - No show-..

Don't Openreach vans have GPS trackers now? Surely it is possible to prove/disprove whether or not their vehicle was ever near your property (within the limits of GPS accuracy).

Re: Engineer - No show-..

Dunno about that. But does it mean much anyway even if the van had gone past the area?

Update from plusnet.
Have got  a new provisional date in 2 weeks time.. Sad
And they will try to escalate the appointment as the engineer seems to have gone to wrong property.

Re: Engineer - No show-..

It would be interesting (though I have little hope of finding out) to know what happens to the engineers time and pay in that situation...
Having NOT done the job scheduled, does he knock off early but get paid?
Or is his pay docked if non-completion is judged to be his fault?
If not his fault is the customer billed for not being there - or do they get billed anyway unless challenged pre-emptively?
Or, dare one suggest, is this all run rather like scheduled flights where they actually overbook seats on the assumption of a number of "no-shows"?  Lips_are_sealed
So if everyone is in the engineer HAS (with the complicity of management) to fail to attend or more of the days bookings.  Shocked
Whatever happens it should be fair to, or somewhat biased towards, the customer.

Re: Engineer - No show-..

Thanks.. PN staff have managed to escalate the issue.
Appointment has been brought forward to next Monday.
Hope the engineer ring me this time ideally with ETA...or atleast if he has difficulty finding property....
