Re: Email queues - on the rise

I had a look at those graphs and I found it hard to understand what they are about. The y-axis is labelled "queued mails" but the quantities are measured in "k"s to one decimal place.
Why?
Is this kilobytes or is it simply a poor way of expressing a straightforward quantity?

Hi Geewizz,
The mail queues are measured in thousands of emails.
As you'll see, these have now dropped drastically.

Re: Email queues - on the rise

So what does "queued" mean? Is that just mails on the servers that have arrived but haven't been accessed by the plusnet account holders, or is it mail that has arrived at pluisnet that hasn't been sorted and delivered to the accounts?

Re: Email queues - on the rise

It's the latter - messages that have arrived at the server but have yet to be delivered to the addressee's mailbox.

Re: Email queues - on the rise

I'm having problems with timeouts collecting email and the graphs stop 30 minutes ago.
Are there email problems?

Tony - looks like a network problem; see the latest service status (which I know hadn't been posted at the time you wrote your post).

Is this latest rise also due to a spam attack?

Re: Email queues - on the rise

Possibly but at 1.5 k it has some way to go before it causes concern.
We'll keep a tight eye on it and our internal monitoring will soon scream before it causes any problems. Smiley
