Email - IMAP, POP3 and SSL

We’re working on these options, but due to additional hardware requirements we are currently unable to provide an estimate of when these services will be available.

It didn't affect me at the time but now I've a new phone that can handle email I've taken an interest. There are several articles available on the web on how easy it is to 'collect' passwords sent in plain text.
e.g. http://www.macworld.com/2007/07/features/iphone_security/index.php
It would help me if PlusNet could be more specific. At least commit to a year or be up front and say it won't be implemented for the forseeable future.

Does this answer your question?

Other options would be to set up a gmail account or an email account with your phone provider and have the Plusnet emails forwarded to your new account.

Re: Email - IMAP, POP3 and SSL

Well its in the same area. SSL would protect the passwords during transmission as I understand it.
This week's news has put the spotlight on data security and rather knocked the duck off of being able to carry the internet round in your pocket. I'd like to see PlusNet move this up the priority list and actually implement and offer this service.
"We're thinking about this" doesn't seem an adequate response as people are waking up to the problems.
