Early activation?

Hi
I received my broadband router a few days ago and plugged it all in to check it was working ahead of the activation date of 5th Feb.  The green broadband light is now solid and I think it may be ready to use.  Could it be activated now?
It is a new line with no former broadband providers so should be good to use.  Do I need to do anything else or should it automatically connect?Huh
I would like to be able to use it over the weekend
Thanks for the help

Re: Early activation?

I'd be interested to know the answer to this post as I'm in a similar position.
I've just had a new line installed, no previous BB, have brought a new router but not tried it yet.
Is the BB date due to billing or to infrastructure needing to be installed?
P.s. Have you tried this link to see how your BB is going?

Re: Early activation?

It's possible to ring Plusnet CSC on 0800 432 0200 and ask for an early activation of your account.
If they are able to do so billing will start from that point and Plusnet will not be able to raise a fault with BT until the official activation date.
If you have a Plusnet supplied router it should connect in about 15 minutes from activation. If not it would need configuring with username and password.

Re: Early activation?

Just contacted customer services and they said 'no we'll send you a text message when it is activated next week'.
I explained the broadband light was on solid and would it be possible to activate it but just got a straight no.
Fair enough if the line is not ready but I got the impression it would be too much effort to check properly

Re: Early activation?

If BT haven't yet set up the routing to Plusnet then It can't be activated.

Re: Early activation?

If you give our Support Team a call, they will take a look on our suppliers systems to see if your order has 'Complete', if so, your broadband can be activated.
If your order is still in a  'Committed' state, we can still activate your account from our end, we don't do this as your billing would start to take effect when you aren't able to use broadband yet.
If you've added a mobile number to your account, you should receive a text message once everything is ready Smiley

Re: Early activation?

Assuming you are using the 582n,
Log in to router 192.168.1.254 in browser
Click Technical Gateway on left hand side
Click on Event Logs

Re: Early activation?

Does that mean I can set up my router?
Thanks for the info.
P.s. It is a 3rd party router BTW.

Re: Early activation?

Hi there,
It certainly does - you'll need to add your username and password manually though as it's a third party router. Username will be the username you selected for your account with the connection realm at the end, so will look something like username@plusdsl.net (that should be the correct realm, just remember to replace 'username' with your own username Smiley )
The password will be the one you use to log in to our website and manage your account.
Hope that helps, please let us know if there's anything else you need - hope it all works well for you!

Just tried to set up the router but the ADSL light isn't on.
Sad
Looks like line isn't set up.

Ah sorry didn't realise the order was placed on the 31st, it's due to complete on the 7th for you.
