In the last 10 days my speed has dropped from
4.35Mbs http://speedtest.net/result/1870229519.png
to
2.43 Mbs http://speedtest.net/result/1890817189.png
my router stats are
Status No Defect Default Gateway 195.166.130.72
Downstream Upstream
Primary DNS Server 212.159.6.10
Data rate (Kbps)
5664 448
Secondary DNS Server 212.159.6.9
Noise margin (dB)
7.8 19.0
Output power (dBm)
19.8 11.9
Attenuation (dB)
53.0 29.5
This appears to happen every couple of months. Can somebody look at this for me please?

Hi Mayfly,
I've just ran some tests on your line and I don't see any reasons why you would be getting the lower speed. Are you running the speed test wired or wireless? Are there any other applications runnin on your computer when you run them. When you run the test is there anyone else in the house using a computer?
Jojo

Hi Joanne - just checked my speed again before replying and it has risen to 3.78Mbs this morning - typical! Not the best speed I've had but a great improvement.
I am wireless as my router has to be in the main socket, BT fitted one of those with the built in filter 2 years ago and it's in the dining room. I am the only one uses BB my OH only ever doewnoads emails.
I don't understand why it does it every couple of months - sometimes for a couple of days sometimes like this last time for 10 days or more.

When it is going slow you need to try a wired test to see if it's a problem with the connection or with the wireless.

HI Mayfly,
As jelv says you need to do the test wired when you see a speed decrease. This is the only way to definitively check when there is a speed problem or something caused by the wireless connection.
