Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

Yes it's showing now.  Thanks again Jojo you're a star!  My download speed is currently at 3903, faster than it's ever been.  My upload speed does seem a bit slow (not a new thing) and I don't know if this is common or not.  It seems to range between 2kbps and 70. At the moment it's sitting at 10!

Is that wireless or wired on the upload?

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

Okay my ip profile is back to 1250 today.  My router has been left plugged into the main socket since I last posted and left switched on 24/7, but I had noticed in my router stats that it had reset itself a few times.  As  this hadn't caused any problem with my speed I wasn't too bothered.  I noticed today however, that it was slower than it had been and when I checked my profile was back to 1250 and my router had obviously lost connection again as it had only been up for an hour.  I also notice that my loss of signal is high and don't think this is normal.  I have never noticed this before with my previous netgear router and wonder if the Thomson one Plusnet supplied is the problem.  I have posted my router stats below and I am hoping Jojo might be able to offer some advice as I am quite frustrated with the whole thing now! (Thanks Jojo by the way for your help with my slow upload problem)

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

I reset my router and have posted the results below.  As you can see it increased my speed dramatically.  Is it ok for my sn margin to be at 5?

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

Hi su4stu,
SNR is fine at 5dB, the target's probably 6dB which is good. My rule of thumb is that I never look at my stats unless I'm getting a poor internet experience, otherwise you end up driving yourself crazy.

Ha ha I think I agree. It was better before I knew how to check these things.

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

Sad Ok I have noticed that my router has disconnected again.  I am never going to get my ip profile raised at this rate!  I have read a lot of bad reviews about the Thomson router and wonder whether I should see about getting another one.  It's a problem I never had with my netgear one and think I should maybe get another of those.  Anyone got any suggestions please?  Undecided

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

Hi su4stu,
If you are still in the master socket then I would return the fault ticket that is still open with details of the latest developments.

Yes still in the master socket. I'll go and add to the fault ticket but it seems to take ages for anyone to read it!

HI su4stu,
As it's ongoing I'll see if anyone can pick it up for you.

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

HI su4stu,
I've just been running some checks myself and see that the profile is back up to 4500. I can see a couple of drops but at the moment it's about 1 every 36 hours which wouldn't be classed as intermittent I don't think.

Re: Drop in ip profile-AGAIN

Thanks Jojo.  It does seem to be affecting my BT profile tho!  It keeps dropping and I don't know what to do about it.
