Download speed halved, upload still good

Something a bit odd is happening with connection speed.

When it is acting 'normally' I get d/l 10 - 11 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up.

For a while the d/l speed has been lower and I've been seeing a number of connection drops.

I have done a quiet line test and it is fine

I have done soft re-set and disconnect/reconnect

I have a 3 femtocell mobile point and develo wifi powerpoint connector plugged in to router. Line speed was OK with these in place.

Fiddling with wiring makes no difference - it never does.

We've had a couple of power cuts in the last week or so, so my guess is that the line needs to be re-set to training please.

SNR values look a bit icky

Re: Download speed halved, upload still good

Hi bin,

Diagnostic tests aren't indicating any issues. Would you be able to do a speed test whilst connected directly to the router over ethernet?

Re: Download speed halved, upload still good

Testing your line isn't showing any obvious faults, the line stats other than the sync speed look good.

Upstream DSL Link Information Downstream DSL Link Information
Loop Loss: 19.3 34.5
SNR Margin: 7.1 5.8
Errored Seconds: 4 1
HEC Errors: 0
Cell Count: 0 0
Speed: 1259 6639

Maximum Stable Rate (KBPS): 11360 Fault Threshold Rate (KBPS): 9088
Mean Time Between Retrains (Seconds): 86400 Mean Time Between Errors Upstream (Seconds): 1763
Indicative Line Quality: G Mean Time Between Errors Downstream (Seconds): 1964

The SNR is where I'd expect on a 6db target and should be fine for your line.

Have you tried a resync rather than just a disconnect/reconnect? If not, try a single restart of the router.

Re: Download speed halved, upload still good

Hi

Testing on cable makes no difference - flat 5Mbps.

I have done soft reset and hard reset - where do I find Resync on the TG582N?

Thanks

Just power it off for 30 seconds and then back on.

Re: Download speed halved, upload still good

I've done that - again - still no improvement.

Uptime: 1 day, 1:25:01
DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,251 / 7,547
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]: 70.90 / 2.25
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.9 / 19.8
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 19.4 / 34.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 6.6 / 3.1
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): -
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 118 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 15 / 236
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 7 / 1,127

OK I guess I'm lucky compared with many, but having had 10-11Mps for the last year or more it's a bit of a pain finding I've been throttled back to half that value. Why?

Re: Download speed halved, upload still good

Sorry for the delayed response.

Your not being restricted as your current profile is "WBC 160K - 24M No delay (INP 0) 3dB Downstream, UC No delay (INP 0) 6dB Upstream (ADSL2+)".

We'd need you to raise a fault here so we can get this looked into.

Re: Download speed halved, upload still good

Well, here we are a few weeks later and no progress.

Ticket was raised and someone said they had done something to put the line SNR back up.

That change never happened and it was supposed to have been redone over the weekend - nothing happened.

If that didn't happen it reads as though I then had to go back through the chat team and start again - I'm not sure why since if the backend team have the problem surely they should own it till it has been resolved.

Anyway - once again I'm deafened by the silence so would appreciate any possible guidance from anyone on PN team who could please advise what I should do next.

Thank you.
