Have just changed to Plusnet from a no cap ISP.
I was shocked when my usage on BBC iPlayer was a massive 5GB for just 2.5 hrs. (F1 Grand Prix)
That's HALF my monthly allowance!!
Is this normal. If so I will be looking at a no cap deal again.

Hi there,
It could well be if you were watching in HD.
FYI are you aware that we do offer different packages with higher usage allowances that I'm sure might suit your needs better?
There's Extra with 60gb:http://www.plus.net/broadband/?source=carouselSwitch or we do also have a 120gb option, head to http://trials.plus.net for more info on that one.

You obviously didn't do any very basic research before you signed up! On the Plusnet front page, if you click find out more beside the 10GB you get what is shown in the attached screen dump.
Your first option would be to switch from Value to Extra which would increase the allowance from 10GB to 60GB and will cost you £5 more each month. I'd suggest you switch to that and see how you go from there.
Don't forget that any usage between midnight and 8am is not counted.

Thanx for that Jelv. Wish I was a bright spark!!
As usual, only myself to blame.
S'pose I was lucky to get 2.5 hrs for 5GB. Lessons will be learned.
Case closed.

If it's any consolation, you are not the first to make a mistake of this nature by a very, very, very long way and I'm sure you'll not be the last!
At least you realised before you started getting hit by the £5/5GB (or part thereof) surcharge which is imposed if you go over. To make sure you don't get charged go to https://portal.plus.net/data_transfer_watch/ and set Maximum extra monthly spend to zero (not set means you will be charged extra if you go over). When you reach the limit your speeds will be restricted.
