Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

Router stats after nearly 10 hours, seems like it restarted it self in the night

Can some one from DCT tell me if you done a SNR reset and/or turned interleaving off as my sync speed now is appalling compared to when it was first syncing when I join and even compared to O2 it's to low, also why have I had my upload speed capped again when I asked for it to be removed ?

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

Well something has happened because it looks like the target noise margin has changed to 9db. Interleaving is still on (and doing it's job) as evidenced by the FEC errors.
Now is the time to leave it alone and see how it goes for the next few days.
Edit: Just noticed the upload seems to be capped when it was not on the previous stats. What is going on?

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

Well get a load of these stats SNR has now gone up to 15.7, makes me wish I kind of stayed with O2/Sky now, well I'm blaming BT and having this IP profile never had a hiccup with O2 could get it to sync at 5338 on O2 box or 4884 on my Netgear that was on adsl2+ Cry

Can some one look at my line for me and tell me what is going go with it please ?.

1. Why is my upload speed at 448 when I asked for uncapped?.
2. Is it worth doing a SNR reset so I can get my old speed sync back?.
3. Would it be better if interleaving is on or off ?.
4.Would it not be better if I was on ADSL2+ profile, so I could get similar sync to when I was on O2 ?.
5. or would it be better to ring support up, after last time they where next to no help?.

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

Hi ONeill,
The upload was uncapped, but unfortunately a recent order to turn interleaving on also capped it. I've tweaked your account so that won't happen again and also placed another order to uncap, that'll complete tomorrow morning for you.
Hope that helps, and that the speed keeps up at a decent level for you.

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

After speaking to a nice knowledgeable person it seems my problem is more down to the IP profile and the way that the BT dynamic software handles things.
After the exchange problems on wednesday and messing me up again, was told that an SNR reset was the only thing to do if it did not sort it self out, so just got of the phone and was told that the system that they use to do an SNR reset was down and is leaving it with the faults team, can you make sure that they do an SNR reset for me but leave my upload speed capped so I can see how the line goes please.
But thanks for your help Matt  Smiley

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

Got of the phone yesterday after another slight problem and found that the PN support guy put in an order for my line to be moved to ADSL Max/2+, which to my suprise happen last night.
Is the training period different with adsl max/2+ as in it lowers your SNR and increases your sync rate over the 10 days or am I wrong here ?

After it's third sync this morning here are it's new stats, ping seems to have improved slightly from 5-10 ms, I'm just loving being back on ADSL2+  Cheesy Grin
I just hope it can stay this high now and not mess up come evening time like last time on ADSL 1  Angry

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

It seems like I'm still having the same problem, now it's about the 6 one I've had since I've joined plusnet, think it must be down to rein or a line fault.
I can have a good sync during the day but from any time from 18:00 hours on it can start, my SNR will slowly go do way down like from 3.0 db to 1.0db or can go right down to 0 and show a lot of numbers but it is still connected in router, still have DSL stats but can't surf any website as it takes to long to load and then times out, can't even ping from cmd, in game it goes from being good to a lot of packetloss, like laggy and teleporting round the map. the only way to get back online is to restart the router which in turn syncs me lower.
Never had this sort of problem with O2 would stay rock stable 24/7

Re: Down Load Speed/upload Speed and in game ping problem

Just happen again at 18:22 according router log.
SNR started falling from 3.0db at about 17:15 when the street lights were coming on then for the next hour it fell to 2.0db it would then go up and down from 1.9 db-2.4 db.
Router stats during the problem, when it was still connected to the internet but could not load or ping anything

When it did come back after a restart it took 2 tries at the connect button to connect back up, new stats after reboot

Notice the SNR is what I had before  at 3.0 db but look at my FEC errors the more you refreash the page the worse it gets.
And all this after we had 3 power cuts round here, I really do hope that some one can help as this is getting annoying now having to restart my router when I'm in the middle of doing some thing else and the fact that I can have a good sync during the day and good SNR but come eving time it starts to play up.. Sad
Update
New router stats below it seems my SNR has now come back up to 7.6 db and the FEC error rates have now stopped
