Does my daughter’s line need an SNR reset?

She lives in  Broadlands and had severe problems during the recent BT MBORC.
A break in the line approx 400 meters from her house meant that for a week or more her BT phone line was unusable for phonecalls (no dial tone, heavy static, couldn’t receive or make phonecalls) and very slow Broadband with dozens of disconnections.
BT repaired the line on 9th May approx 18.00hrs and her Broadband upload speed immediately rocketed higher than it's ever been. It's currently 736kbps per mybroadbandspeed.
But her download speed has remained very low (150-250kbps) even after several days of continuous connection. I’ve told her to leave the thompson router connected and only disconnect via 192.168.1.254
Is it a case of waiting for the line  to settle down or is there anything else she should do?
Thanks
Per Plusnet’s her Current Line Speed is 0.25Mb
BT speedtester accceptable range of speeds is 1.2Mbps-4Mbps IP profile for line is 2.88Mbps.

Re: Does my daughter’s line need an SNR reset?

You need to provide the router stats before we can comment although the Current Line Speed needs manually updating ASAP

I knew I'd forget something :0
Thomson Gateway @ 16.41today. (She powered down the router via 192.168 etc earlier to see if ispeed would improve)

Re: Does my daughter’s line need an SNR reset?

Hello
The line now looks OK
A member of Plusnet staff should be able to apply a SNR reset to 6dB to help and also adjust the line speed profile to match.
They will both improve matters, but please ask your daughter to leave the router switched on 24/7 unless advised otherwise Smiley

Re: Does my daughter’s line need an SNR reset?

Sorry to disagree but the errors are a bit too high with a 9dB default noise margin for a reset to 6dB to work - it will probably just be raised again
There are two problems
First the Plusnet profile needs to be corrected. I suggest getting your daughter to phone support.
Alternatively post here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,101517.0.html and refer to a PM which you should send to Jojo giving your daughters username
Second - find out why the sync speed is so low.
As a first step connect to the test socket and report the stats again
To add - here are the stats from my router - 28 hours uptime - you can see the difference and I have a relatively noisy line (most of the errors occur when the noise margin drops to about 3dB over night)
Noise Margin:    5.8  dB
Connection Rate:  4864  Kbps
Line Attenuation: 51.0  dB
Reed Solomon:    412,854,822
RS Corrected:    100,436
RS Un-Corrected:  13,211
HEC:              601

Re: Does my daughter’s line need an SNR reset?

Apologies guys, I was offline last night but thanks for your replies.
Daughter tells me it's all been quietly sorted since I posted on here. I'll also post on YourFeedbac thanking whoever worked anonymously to reset the line.  Her speedtest this morning was 2786 download 739 upload. Not bad for a rural property over 3 miles from the exchange  Cheesy
Thanks to all concerned

Apologies for OT but I hope that's a Bonzo's reference Smiley
Grateful thanks to my Dad, who ensured I had an awesome musical upbringing. I could sing along to Hunting Tigers Out In Indiah, Jollity Farm (used to giggle myself silly whenever the bull made its noise... in fact I often still do) and Mr Slater's Parrot before I was at school Cheesy

I assumed rhinocratic had taken his name from one of their songs, Rhinocratic Oaths.

Yes it is Matt, well spotted.  Wink
My daughter studied a similar music curriculum to yours  - hers included My pink half of the drainpipe.
She's a music teacher now. There must be a connection   Cheesy
