Does anyone use a Netgear DG834G router?

I purchased on of there's routers yesterday, and replaced it with the thomson router, I followed all the instructions but I just can't connect to the internet with it even though windows xp says that I'm fully connected to it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Hi there,
What happens if you try going to http://192.168.0.1/
Does it ask you for a username and password?

Does the router syncronise with the exchange (DSL light solid green)?

Re: Does anyone use a Netgear DG834G router?

Put what in - the default for the Netgear is
user - admin
password - password
Once you have done that you need to set it up for your Plusnet username and password under Basic Settings - alternatively you can use the Setup Wizard at the top of the page

Re: Does anyone use a Netgear DG834G router?

Hiya,
Thanks for your time just now.
As I mentioned, I think the best bet is to try setting up the router manually, rather than trying to use the wizard.
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/help_and_setup/general_setup_guide.shtml
That's the link I mentioned.
Most importantly:
*  Data Circuit Information: VPI = 0 (Virtual Path Identifier) VCI = 38 (Virtual Channel Identifier)
* Data Link Encapsulation: PPPoA
* PPP Properties: VC Multiplexed
And you need to make sure that you're putting in your username in the format of username@plusdsl.net
Let me know if you have any further problems.

I'm still haven't had any luck...
These are the pages I get when after I use the setup wizard, can you see anything that's not right?

Re: Does anyone use a Netgear DG834G router?

Looks OK, I'd give PN support a call in case you've got the username or password wrong.
It's obviously sync'ed so it's just that final bit of authentication that's wrong.
Unless you're on a static IP or BT have misconfigured the line.  Roll_eyes

Re: Does anyone use a Netgear DG834G router?

Hi again,
It's definitely your password that is incorrect.
I can rejections on our servers, as well as your router saying that it's a password problem (CHAP authentication failure).

What is the username and password do you type in here https://portal.plus.net/index_nlp.html?home=membercentretop to access your account details?
The username from above needs to be put into the router as username@plusdsl.net
