Re: Does adsl2 Exchange affect adsl bandwidth?

Many thanks for your info Mand, interesting.
I look forward to the Plusnet Extra experience.
Over the last 7-years or so,  I've changed my Plusnet tariff/connection several times.  Each time I feel that the latest offering has been designed specifically for me!  Perhaps I'm a very average user.....sounds a wee bit mediocre!
.....but good on you, Plusnet!

Re: Does adsl2 Exchange affect adsl bandwidth?

Interestingly, my connection was changed to Plus Extra today without any change in my line performance, which from the BT test is Sych : 8128/448, IP profile 7150, speed 6248 Mbps.  A complete recovery from my original query when my Synch had dropped so much.
I've queried this with Plusnet Support and received this reply :
....."Unfortunately whilst you have been moved over to the Extra package, we weren't able to move you over to ADSL2 at the same time as there is currently not enough ADSL2  capacity in your local exchange at the moment.
BT are currently upgrading the exchange to upgrade the capacity. Your order that was placed to move you over to ADSL2 will be reviewed by BT on the 02-Jun-2010. Should there be sufficient capacity on that date, then we would expect you to be moved over 10 working days after this date....."
Irritating, but an honest reply, for which I'm grateful.
However, it does suggest to me an answer to my original query which reported a drop in my Synch speeds at the same time as my local Exchange implemented adsl2......that they were restricting bandwidth due to lack of resouces.....is this possible?  Is that what Mand was hinting at?
