Until last night when have been running at about 19,000 kbps for many months with no problem, last night we started getting lots of disconnections and this morning I see we are now down to 9,272 kbps. We have been running in the master socket since the beginning of the year (as recommended by JoJo) and nothing has changed our end. Could someone from Plusnet have a look at this, we seem to get this problem every 6 months or so, no cause seems to be found and the problem eventually goes away and the speed eventually comes back.
Thanks
Steve

Banded is my guess caused by the appallingly high number of error seconds

What do error seconds relate to? I suppose its a silly question to ask what would cause this after so many months of flawless service?

As an example this is my figure after 8 days
Errored Seconds: 1502
Severe ES: 13
The second number is where the errors in one second are sufficient to affect throughput
Quote ES (Errored Seconds)
An Errored Second is a second in which one or more coding violations occurred OR one or more loss of signal defects occurred.
Again, as with CRC there is no standard formula which would indicate whether a given level of ES is acceptable or unacceptable. Anything other than a near perfect line will give some level of ES error. Look at the 15 minute periods. There are 900 seconds in 15 minutes. An errored second figure of up to 5 or 10 is probably manageable. On really bad lines the ES number can actually equal the total seconds i.e. every second of connection experienced a coding violation or loss of signal.
In many ways, errored seconds are a better indicator of a line that is struggling than CRC.

Thanks for that, I guess I could try rebooting the router to clear the error seconds?

OK, thanks for the advice, I'll leave it be, hopefully someone from Plusnet will pick this up.
I suppose I'll have to open ticket, it gets a bit tedious having to tell the same thing every time, no nothing has changed our end, yes the router is in the test socket where it has been permanently since last year, all been running fine for about 6 months, then out of nowhere we get a period of disconnections and the line speed drops. Plusnet investigates, can find no cause and then after a week or so everything goes back to normal with a line speed of 19,000 kbps for another 6 months.
Thanks again
Steve

I can see you've raised a fault, thanks for that. That'll get picked up soon and get the banding removed for you.

Thanks for replying, yes the router has just been rebooted by Plusnet and the speed is back to normal, in fact faster, still a lot of error seconds. What do you think?

OK, it would seem there was another router reboot, I don't know whether this was by Plusnet but the maximum bandwidth has actually increased!
Will see how we get on the next 24hrs.
Thanks for the help.

I can see that your downstream target SNR is set to 3dB which is a little too low for your line. I have arranged for this to be manually changed to 6dB. Please monitor the connection over the next 24 to 48 hours and let us know if the issue continues.

The line has been up now for nearly 48 hrs but the SNR seems to have gone up to 11.5dB thus the speed has come down a bit to 17,500kbps. Is this higher SNR an acceptable figure? The line speed is a little lower than 19,000kbps we were getting over the past 6 months with only the odd disconnection. Still we would rather a stable line albeit slower.
What do you think?
Thanks
