I’m about to change to a value fibre connection and have seen comments on the forum saying that the modem supplied by BT tends to get rather hot. Bearing this in mind it would seem sensible to power this off if one is going to be away from home for an extended period such as a holiday. However I guess that this would register as a fault with BT and result in the speed being downgraded?
My question is whether there is a way to disconnect “gracefully” before powering of the router and modem which would not register as a fault and hence a downgrading of the IP profile?

Hi there,
A single drop shouldn't matter, but if you disconnect via the router's control panel before powering down the exchange will receive the request to close the connection and won't treat it as a forced disconnect.
