DSL connection problem

For two days internet has not been working. I've followed the online steps to check the set up and wiring etc. No luck.
When I try to open google chrome I am taken to a 'Technicolor gateway' login page. When I login the message is that the dsl connection is down.
The only thing I forgot to check is if the phone is working (as myself and housemates just use our mobiles) and also try a different router.
Any suggestions? How do I find out if it's a general problem in my area?

I still have no internet
was told that there is an external fault and it would be fixed by today

I'm sorry to hear about the delay. I have spoken to our suppliers and an engineer is out today to complete the work for you and we will receive an update on this tomorrow the 14/04/16.

I really appreciate the regular updates to my messages on this forum, but the internet issue is still not fixed.
Me and my housemates have now had 8 days without broadband. The light on the router was previously flashing but now it's off completely (broadband light). Is there any news on the fault and when it will be fixed?
