These commands don't seem to work on the TG582n FTTC, am i missing something or do these commands not work with this firmware/router ?
dhcp client ifdetach intf=Internet
dhcp client rqoptions delete intf=Internet option=domain-name-servers
dhcp client ifattach intf=Internet

The default setting in my tg582n FTTC, show the interface "Internet" has not been added or attached to the dhcp client. So the rqoptions is already disabled.

Here is the output.
I was under the impression that the DNS stayed static after changing to opendns ip's "3) Set the router to use opendns as the only dns resolver." but when the ppp connection is dropped i get fresh dns ip's added from plusnet again, i'm confused.

That method worked for a O2 connection but not here.

@npr Thanks for the help, but it appears that this option will not work for a static setup. I have also been doing some testing again today trying to use the router ip for resolving but i'm still getting errors, i give up with it all i really do

If you must use static IP's on the LAN then you can go back to the first method. The PN dns will not be used unless both opendns resolvers actually stop responding.
The fact that the opendns metric is 1 and 2 means they will always be used before the PN dns with a metric 10.

Have you got OpenDNS's IP addresses right? Yours seem to end .123
