DLM Profile

Hi I was wondering if someone could check and see which OR DLM profile I am on.  My ping to game servers has increased a fair bit over the last few months.  I know that several ISP can change the DLM profile to help improve pings.
Many thanks

Re: DLM Profile

Hi there,
I've made a few checks and can't see any speed issues at all. What ping times and speeds are you seeing?

Re: DLM Profile

Hi Adam thanks for the reply. Speed is not my problem as I can hit the cabinet with a stone from my house. It is ping and packet loss (although the packet loss may just be bf4)  on my speed of connection I would expect a very low ping and a stable one. However pinging and playing on server that I get a ping of 8 - 10 on my DSL service I am getting a ping 25 - 35. My DSL service is at my business premises 1 mile away.
The packet loss has been happening for around 7 - 10 days with increased ping times when it starts to occur. I have tried with the OR modem with the plus router and a linksys 6700. I have also tried a Drayton 2860n which is overall the best.
Any help would be great.
Cheers
John

Have you restarted your modem recently?

Re: DLM Profile

Hi Chris I changed my router to the Draytek vigor 2860 on Friday and it had been up since.  The packet loss higher pings seem to be similar to the problem that other people are getting as the evening goes on.

Re: DLM Profile

The check that I ran showed that the connection between your OR Modem and the Cabinet was lost at least 5 times recently. I'm wondering if this has happened when you've not been using the connection.
I think you're best off raising a fault at http://faults.plus.net as somethings not quite right here.

Re: DLM Profile

Well the good news is that your connection has remained stable for the last 5 or so days:
<img src="http://community.plus.net/visualradius/generated/image13928904965359.png"/>
We've had a look at your exchange and we can see a couple of other users experiencing the same issues. We're looking for a couple more examples from your exchange so we can raise a case with our suppliers.
Once we've raised a case, we'll update it here http://community.plus.net/exchange-information/

Re: DLM Profile

Thanks Chris. Yeah the stability seems to be better using the Draytek rather than the open reach modem and linksys router. However as you see from the pics something is broken!
I look forward to hearing from you. I would expect something with the box the engineer that did my install did say there was something odd with the wiring. Or that was his excuse for having to go back twice!!

Re: DLM Profile

Hi John,
Well we're thinking that there's potentially something wrong way back at the exchange to be honest. We're seeing a number of users having the same issues which is a cause for concern.

Re: DLM Profile

Chris, how can I check my exchange for congestion? As all this week, my speed dropping from 72 to around 25 for about 2 or 3 hours around 9pm to 12am every night. Probably my local exchange congestion.

Re: DLM Profile

Hi goldenfibre,
We've just checked for any congestion in your exchange and can confirm that there was none found. We've not seen any reports of any other customers with any similar issues. Can you keep us updated with TBB graphs so that we can keep an eye on this and if we do spot an issue then we can investigate further?
