Consistent Slow Broadband

Hi, I couldn't find any e-mail to contact support (why there isn't one is beyond me) so I thought I'd post here since support chat is never available either.

I've been getting unusable speeds almost everyday now - 1Mbps (0.125 Mbytes/s) at most which is far below the minimum guaranteed access speed of 4.5 mbps. Is there any way to increase the speed on my connection remotely?

Re: Consistent Slow Broadband

Hi,

A warm welcome to the forums.

Rightly Plusnet does not do support via email - never has done - for its not practical to link email correspondence to CRM repositories.

have you looked at the slow speed guidance topic?  Link below.  Lets check out some basic stuff...

What are the expectations for your line?

Please use the following links to check the services available and their estimated speeds. From the first link, please record and report back the distance from the exchange. The second link advises of which fibre services (if any) are available on your line and their anticipated speed.

Broadband is not going to work well if the "phone" line is not working properly.

Please perform a quiet line test - dial 17070 select option 2 using a corded phone plugged into the test socket behind the face plate of the master socket. It should be silent. A noisy phone line (or no dial tone) will have a marked adverse impact on the performance of broadband.

If the line is noisy or there is no dial tone, then a PHONE LINE fault needs to be raised with your phone provider. If this is PlusNet, you can report a fault on line using the button below.

How is your line performing?

Please post your router stats; for PN TG582n and 2704n routers use the buttons below, for other routers look at the Kitz link.

Also run a BT Wholesale speed test (ideally using an Ethernet wired PC with the WiFi turned off) then run the further diagnostics and post the results here. DO NOT REBOOT the router!

Also find your CURRENT SPEED (PlusNet line profile) from the PlusNet user portal - you will need to log in.

Re: Consistent Slow Broadband

Hi there.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing speed problems.
Testing your line isn't finding any issues and your router is in sync at 18mbps.

With that said, I've made a change to your line now which should help your downloading speeds.

Can you let us know how your speed is in about an hour or so?

That's a massive difference... Shocked

Re: Consistent Slow Broadband

@Townman

It certainly is. Estimates are showing at between 17.5mbps and 21mbps.
