Speedtester shows a download speed of 1800.
I'm trying to download a 1.4MB file from Microsoft and its download speed is 1.2K a second
I'm also trying to download another file from another site and getting a pant wetting 800b per second.
Web pages seem to be loading OK which is a bit odd

Regardless of Plusnet throttling Microsoft servers can be terribly slow

I'm on the 15GB package with 5GB of paid used.
I actually did some more checks and it seemed to be several sites in the US that were slow especially if you tried to download.
All in all it took me over 1 hour to down load the WGA checker and then the MS Javascript debugger. So I went to the pub instead of trying to anything else.

It's not just you. I'm currently trying to download Office 2003 Service Pack 3 from Microsoft (direct, not via Microsoft update) and 57.5MB is showing as having 1 hour remaining. Microsoft might very well be slow, but that's pretty abysmal whichever way you look at it. It's only marginally faster than 2 channels of ISDN.
I'm a very light user so I'm swapping from Option 3 to BBYW Pro to see if it makes a difference. It's all very having ADSL that syncs to the exchange at 8mbit if your data dribbles down from the likes of Microsoft at < 150 kbit.

Hiya,
Files being downloaded via the Microsoft website will be rate limited from 4pm until midnight, although this should be restricted to upto 1Mbps.
I'll be interested to see if you have any slowdowns whilst using Pro.

Potentially, but if you're on Option 3, changing to Pro is the same price, so not in this case.
