The broadband works great during the day but each night after 9pm I get 2 to 3 disconnections and each disconnection lasts for around 3 mins.

Jun 3 23:03:04 WAN Connection: WAN was restored.
Its not a major issue - I just like to play online games in the evening and its a bit of a pain to keep getting disconnected from the server
I also use remote desktop a lot when I'm away from home and each one of these disconnections changes my ip.
Is this a problem my end?
Thanks
Sammy

You can always find out your current IP address by pinging username.plus.com
It could be your end - some electrical device interfering with the link, but the log entry you posted does not show xDSL down.

My line disconnected for a while last night again - so hopefully you guys could see whats happening.
I currently have a script running on my nas that checks my ip and emails me if it changes
@Townman it would be great to have an external method to find my ip easily though your method currently doesn't work for me (perhaps because I have only recently joined plusnet?)
On a side note I seem to have dns problems during the time period where the disconnects happen (9pm - 3.00am). I have trouble accessing a lot of major sites during this time (google.co.uk, bbc.co.uk etc) . Other sites seem to load fine (forums etc).
Switching my dns servers to opendns fixes this problem.
I was previously with BT and had this same issue for a few years - not sure if this is anyway related?

And they suggested it may be caused by interference:
Quote Our testing has identified that there may be a issue caused by electronic interference. If the issue occurs when you turn on a device in the property then it is likely that device is producing a frequency that is interrupting your broadband. The issue on your line appears to be occurring between 22:00 and 02:00. More info on this kind of issue can be found here - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/rein.htm
I have been running routerstats as suggested by that article to monitor line noise.
The line is perfect throughout the day:
[15:39 - 17:39]
But as soon as it gets to 9pm we start getting drops like this (not all of them cause the line to resync/reconnect):
[19:40 - 21:49]
This goes on throughout the whole night to about 4.00am
[21:50 - 23:53]
[00:36 - 02:39]
[02:39 - 04:45]
And then it clears back up
[04:45 - 06:45]
I have tested just about every electric device in my house and cant reproduce this noise during the day (lights, thermostat, motion sensor flood light etc). We have no devices set to run on a timer over night. We are pretty much all in bed by 23:00 with nearly everything switched off.
Any ideas what is causing this?
Ps. we are still having huge dns problems during this time period too - we couldn't access any websites from about 23:30 to 01:50 last night. Switching over to opendns fixes this. This seems to be off peak times - any idea why the default dns become so unreliable during this timeframe?

There is every possibility that the problem is outside of your home - consider street lights and CCTV systems - or in a neighbour's property.

Quote from: Townman Looking at the error counts (change since last interval) would be useful too.

Hi Townman
I live in a pretty rural area - we have no streetlights and the house is detached (quite a distance away from our neighbors).
I will dig around in the routerstats settings to see if I can get it to record error counts
Thanks again for your help

Rural can be quite bad, especially if there is farm plant around using lots of power. Noise spikes can travel through the mains and phone lines for long distances. A while ago I was semi rural and noise interference from trains passing a quarter of a mile away could be problematic - but the were much more frequent that your "set your watch by" events.
Keep monitoring for a while and see how consistent the times are.
