Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

The tweak tests show similar results with all three values of MTU. Could you post your current router stats (just the sync speeds, SNR margins and attenuations)? Changing MTU and RWIN shouldn't have affected sync speed, only changes in target SNR margin (if any) will change that.

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

Your sync speed remains way below what it should be for an attenuation of 33dB and the current SNR margin is not high enough to explain that. So a line fault remains the favourite explanation (and as I mentioned earlier this was probably present before moving to the 21CN trial).
Since you mentioned receiving an email from Plusnet requesting you to carry out a tweak test I assume you have a speed fault ticket open. In which case I suggest adding the current results (comment, router stats image, and tweak test URL) to it and returning it to the CSC.

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

David, yes I have a speed fault  ticket  open and replied to that with the current results, as advised, also just done another tweak test which advised to set the MTU to 1500,
is it OK to go back and reset that ? as I dont want to do anything while you guys are handling things, I'm not the expert lol

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

Please disregard that tweak test! I had the mode set to normal  not ppoA

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

Your present settings are those Plusnet asked you to try so I suggest keeping them until the problem is picked up again after the holiday.
The latest tweak test shows slightly different Round Trip Time behaviour from previous ones, though otherwise it is much the same as before. (Whether you set mode to "normal" or "PPPoA" affects only the MTU recommendations, not the test results.)

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

thanks david here is the reply from the ticket I raised
Quote
Dear Mr Shaw,
As per our discussion today.
I have spoke with BT and there is no banded profile on your line and essentially what you are receiving in terms of speeds on your line, is what your line can handle.
Please monitor your connection and should you have further problems, please let us know.
Kind regards,
Keith *******

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

Hi Barry,
What Keith is saying there is that your line speed isn't being capped by a "banded profile".
I'd like to see if your noise margin can drop a little more automatically.  Has it always been at 10dB or have you noticed much in the way of fluctuations?

Re: Confused: why has my speed dropped on ADSL2+

I only briefly read this thread, but keep in mind on the 2800 that parameter is MSS not MTU
http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb_vigor_mtu.html
Also on the maintenance menu it has he abiity to show a bits per bin graph which is often illuminating.
