Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

and you're using the new router connected to the OR modem, and not the old ADSL router?
and the plusnet username is correct in the new router?

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Just to chip in here, but you _are_ actually connected to the internet somehow. You've got a "Teredo" address (beginning 2001) which is a method of encapsulating IPv6 over IPv4. It's possible that DNS is failing to resolve
Can you run the following commands in your command prompt:
ping 8.8.8.8
and then
nslookup www.google.com
and
nslookup www.google.com 8.8.8.8

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Sorry for the delay, laptop was updating.
I using the username you use to log in to the plusnet website.
Also since I've been switched over every so often the internet light turns red and then goes back to green but I still can't access the internet.

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Hmm, not sure then. I've just had a closer look at the Teredo address and it doesn't look like it's one that's connected to the internet somehow (which I've not seen before) so I apologise for possibly getting your hopes up there.

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Don't worry, I'm hoping that the engineer has made a mistake at the cabinet or something, it's just a shame I couldn't get normal adsl broadband back or something.
I can't really do much on a mobile phone

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Hi Theo,
The tests I did earlier showed that the router is configured correctly with the username including the @plusdsl.net suffix.
I'd just go ahead and raise a fault as the next step, I don't think there's anything more you could check on your side.

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Hi Adam,
I have an engineer coming tomorrow between 8am and 1pm, worst case scenario I'll just have to go back to adsl broadband if he can't fix it, but other than the engineer messing up at the cabinet/exchange I can't think of anything.
Was there any problems with my connection during the night? Is there any problems in the area that could be causing it?
Could it be a simple wait till midnight? or is that not the case here?

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Hi, Sorry I've not been able to help since my last post, I was driving home from the office.

That's not right though, it should stay green ( or flash green ). Red indicates an authentication problem. Hopefully the engineer can sort it out tomorrow. Smiley

Me too MisterW, it's not constant, I've noticed it maybe 5 times since half 9 this morning.

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Hey guys  Grin
Turns out the contracter yesterday put me on the wrong port, so I know have fibre optic  Cheesy
Thanks for the help yesterday.
The BT engineer told me on his speed test he got 73Mb down and 18Mb up  Cheesy
Although wireless I get 40Mb but hey who cares I have fibre optic.
Is there anyway to reduce my ping? I have a ping of 25 and I have had lower when I was on adsl.
Thanks peeps Smiley

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Good to see you're sorted! If you're using wireless the only real way to lower the ping is to go wired unfortunately

Re: Confirm Engineer Appointment

Good plan, I always wire all my devices where possible, other than phones / laptops etc of course, that's why I have cat6 cable ran through a wall and the ceiling to a switch upstairs, so I can wire my devices up there into the router downstairs in the master socket Grin
