Cant access router config without internet connection

hi, i am trying to access my safecom router settings which i can do fine when i have an internet connection by typing the default gateway into explorer bar which is 10.0.0.2.
my problem is when the connection drops it wont access the router but comes up with the cant display / diagnose connection problems page as if i have tried to access a normal internet page without a connection
i am using xp with IE8 i think
i have been trying to look at noise stats etc when or just before a disconnect happens

just put http://192.168.1.1. into you browser bar, doesnt need the internet

hi Pierre, thanks for the reply.
i tried what you said and it changes the text in the bar to http://192.0.0.168/ and thinks for a bit and then says it cant dispaly this webpage again.

did you type it in or click what looked like a link, think that had an error   try http://192.168.1.1

hi, i did misread what you put and didnt put the 1.1. however it still says waiting for http//.... at the bottom of the page for  a few seconds and then displays the diagnose connection problems page when i put it in correctly.

That is odd because http://10.0.0.2  is correct for that router

hi Jim, it works fine when i have an internet connection and i can access all my router stats, its just when the connection drops it displays the diagonse connection problems page rather than the router login page which i thought was odd as i must have accessed the router to set it up in the first place

hi, had a quick search about, i turned off my windows firewall and its fine, connects straight to login page using the 10.0.0.2 address.
