Can't connect my Netgear DG834GT to PN so looking at Tp-Link 8960n

Hi njay
No point me buying another Netgear until/unless I get to the bottom of why I still can't connect my Netgear DG834GT to PN.
Looking for something with a Broadcom chipset e.g Tp-Link 8960n.
Would appreciate your view on ADSL modem connection/performance of Netgear DG834GT vs 582n vs Tp-Link 8960n.
Thanks for your help (or anyone else who can give personal feedback).

Re: Have you replaced your 582n modem / router?

Can you start a new thread, or better still use this one and edit the title to add "& I can't connect with my DG834GT" which you can do by editing your first post. It won't be appreciated by others taking this thread off-topic. HTH.

Re: Have you replaced your 582n modem / router?

Sorry, I didn't think it was 'off topic' as we are talking about 582n replacements but if a mod can move as you suggest that's fine with me.

Re: Can't connect my Netgear DG834GT to PN

Anyone using a Tp-Link 8960n to connect to PN?
Would appreciate your view on the ADSL modem connection/performance vs 582n (and Netgear DG834GT if you have used one with PN).
Thanks for your help.

Re: Can't connect my Netgear DG834GT to PN so looking at Tp-Link 8960n

i upgraded from the DG834GT to a TP-LINK 8960n when on ADSL2+.
It was a definate improvement over netgear for wireless signal strength and it seemed about the same for ADSL speeds.
When I upgraded ti Fibre initally used the supplied 582n but eventually reconfigured the 8960n to support WAN on one of the LAN ports. I would say the 8960n was better than the 582n by virtue of the aerials are external and so I could orientate them to provide wider coverage of my house whilst still having the router sat neatly with all the lan cables dropping down the back of the unit it was sat on. I imagine I could have improved the wireless coverage of the 582 but it would probably have ended up needing to be at an angle both horizontally and vertically lol
As you know I have since moved on to an Asus n66u so all of the above are sitting gathering dust along with the Thomson 585 v7 that never even got used lol
