Can't connect - how to check function of fttc modem

Cannot connect via Netgear n600  using a fttc modem
Not sure if router or modem is problem (thunderstorm last night)
Router seems ok but not eceiving a signal
How do i check the fttc Bt openreach modem is functioning ok  (2 green lights showing)

Still having an issue?
You should have 3 lights on the openreach router
1)Power
2) DSL
3) Lan1/lan2
now if all 3 are solid green your connection to the openreach router is all working fine but if any are flashing apart from lan light you have a problem that will require thorough diagnosing

You can test the modem by plugging a PC directly into it and setting up a PPPoE connection.
