I think my broadband speed has got stuck. Can this happen or can anybody see a reason for it?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 2513 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2976 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 861 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 18.07:24.39:57.54 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

Re: Can broadband speeds get stuck?

Your connection rate matches what your ip profile should be

Re: Can broadband speeds get stuck?

My router says the SNR is 14.9 it is always around 15 so I thought my connection rate should be higher.
It also say the max is "Max(Kbps):      6236" and I am only getting half of that.

Re: Can broadband speeds get stuck?

The SNRM of around 15dB is rather high as the default set by the DSLAM is usually around 6dB so there must be a noise issue on your line.
If that issue isn't permanent on your line then over the next 14 days or so (without any resyncs happening) the 15dB might end up near the 6dB figure which should allow for a higher sync rate and in turn faster speeds some of the time  Tongue

Re: Can broadband speeds get stuck?

The higher the SNR is, the lower the sync rate will be - however your SNR will only lower if the exchange equipment deems the line stable enough (unless you have a router capable of setting the SNR value itself).

EDIT: too slow, apparently Smiley

Re: Can broadband speeds get stuck?

I am capable of setting the SNR value using telnet, I am not sure if I want to do that just yet though (I don't know what effect it will have). Is there any programs around that will monitor how much noise I have on the line? Then I can leave it running and capture data and if there is not a lot of noise change it myself.

Re: Can broadband speeds get stuck?

routerstats and routerstats lite are good, helped me  lot by understanding my line.
